This just unlocked a memory of when I was in grad school and my department’s classrooms had just been outfitted with new projectors, and one of the other grad students could never figure out how to work it so she always left her lecture-in-progress to fetch me regardless of what I was doing, and this continued on when she’d gotten her PhD and was hired on as a professor in the same department. And everyone thought I was, like, tech support, and not another PhD candidate.
I don’t know why I kept going along with this. Probably my need to always feel helpful.
Unfortunately no, he also required all things to be written out in long-form and I have dysgraphia and chronic pain. He also was one of those stereotypical “I hate being here and so should you” shriveled up bitter old men who ended up as a college professor because they couldn’t find anything else to do.
And I’m not inferring this, this is what he actually said on his first day of class.
Oh god, I had a history professor in college like this. He didn’t like that I answered essay questions with anything other than the specific keywords he was looking for.
