    Sal is holding a can of Veep cola. That stuff was last manufactured around 1964. A predecessor of Sprite, Veep’s taglines were, “Never spoils your appetite” and ""great thirst fixer, wonderful mixer." The can probably has value to collectors. Thank you, John & Scott!

    August is a month past. However, if—as threatened—funding is not approved, in a few days the federal government will shutdown, the second time this year. Here ’round DC and elsewhere throughout the USA these ideas remain applicable. Thanks again, Richard Thompson! We miss you.

    Recognizing usefulness per CalLadyQED in getting jobs, housing—one shelter here requires a call between noon and five if you want to stay—childcare, etc., the local community health network worked with a provider to give cheap flip phones and a few minutes per month to those with incomes less than $600 per month.
