   To AmyGrantfan: It appears the strip is alluding to “A Pirate’s Life for Me” written by George Bruns and Xavier Atencio in 1967 for the Disneyland theme park and later used in the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

   First stanza:

   Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me.We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,Drink up, me ‘earties, yo ho.We kidnap and ravage and don’t give a hoot,Drink up me ’earties, yo ho.

   Another commenter referred to (and I am not familiar with) the comic operetta “Pirates of Penzance” (by Arthur Sullivan and W. S. Gilbert). The strip may be a tip-of-the-hat to the song “Rollicking Ban of Pirates We”. Perhaps . . .

   I prefer the artistic style of yesterday’s panel (cross-hatching), however I like today’s placement of the vending stand (straight toward viewer, not in perspective, takes more room in the panel, less background distractions and focuses on foreground). So, for me, it needs to be a mix of both days. Keep up the good work!
