Ray Harryhausen was my dear friend for more than 40 years. I was able to pay him back, ever so slightly, for the untold hours of enjoyment he and his films gave me as a youth by successfully campaigning to get him a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 1992 and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003. If it had not been for Ray Harryhausen and another Ray named Bradbury, I am confident my life and the lives of countless others would have been much less fun.
