Ok. I guess I’m the angry old white Republican, even though I’m an Independent. This strip has been in the UT San Diego for a few years now. While I sometimes (rarely) find it amusing, the story line about the song “Accidental Racist” is so off-base it is unreal. As a country fan, I must admit this song sucks. But, the author of this strip, in his “story” proves to me he is racist. I’m not sure “Lalo Alcaraz” has even listened to this song. His strip is always implying conservatives (not just Republicans) of being racist; he does not acknowledge the fact the Democrats have held up Immigration reform since before Bush 41; it hurts their Labor Union block. Here’s a hint for you Lalo – Republicans were at the forefront of civil rights! Not Democrats; they faught it tooth and nail. Second hint Lalo. Brad Paisley and LL Cool J are both registered Democrats; Brad has played for President Obama and supports liberal causes. LL Cool J does also. Oh, and they also support doing the right thing! I support free speech and freedom of the press; spent a good portion of my adult life doing so serving in the Navy. I don’t care if you are a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green Party, etc… You have the right to speak freely. You are implying with this strip that this song is racial; it isn’t. It is about the mistakes we as a country made in the past. It is about seeing people for what they are on the inside, not the rebel shirt or the doo-rag they wear. It is about seeing our fellow human beings as what they are; human beings. Instead of promoting racism, promote understanding! Haven’t seen that in your strip yet. Signed – the angry white Republican, who is an Independent.
