The Twinkie is a part of Americana. There should be some sadness that it is lost. (Not to mention Wonder Bread, Zingers, Snow Balls, Cup Cakes and Fruit Pies.) I almost always had one of these in my lunch whine I was in school – 40 years ago. in all liklihood the largest brand names will be bought by other producers. The rights to most of the old Hostess products will be bought up by other vendors. They will reappear on store shelves. I hope that they don’t change much.

Both sides suffer because of this conflict. But, I don’t see indication that peace can exist. Hamas uses violence to support thier objectives and doesn’t even acknowledge Israel’s right to exist. With historical justification, Israel is paranoid over thier security. The current government is one of the most conservative they have had. They have no incentive to negociate with a “terrorist” organization that promises heaven for killing Jews in the Jihad. The rehtoric and weapons provided by Iran make it worse.

Unfortunately, we are stuck in the middle. Our society is formed around Judeo/Christianity. The majority of our religions consider the region sacred. There is a moral imperitive to protect the area. In addition. Israel is an important military partner for the US in a region where we don’t have many friends.

It seems that all we can do is try to keep them from slaughtering each other and, hope for the best.

Give it a break! This is about the size of the crowds at the stores during Christmas shopping. This is not an indictment of Christmas or a statement of religious beliefs.

What’s the matter with the 4th of July? In Mexico they celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

I wish that there was a line under Liberals and Conservatives that read “Good of the People.” It would likely be “Goose Eggs” all across. Our government has become so polarized that it is more important to win an issue than to do the right thing for the American people.

So if government jobs don’t produce anything, I guess we don’t need a military, police, firemen, roads or teachers. Wouldn’t life be wonderful in a country of illiterites wandering around on dirt paths with no one to help us if we’re hurt or being assualted. Sure there’s waste but, the government does a lot of necessary things. The extreme view on almost any opinion is the wrong one.
