I love when Julie draws Joy so she looks fatter than life itself. You should see her in the original panels, some of which Julie herself mailed to me, before she had to scale the characters back to satisfy the Syndicate when she finally sold out.
Ughck. The next panel should show Poppy being drop-kicked or winged by its tail into the nearest wood chipper where it belongs, along with all the other cats.
Seems as though the bulk of Owen’s issues would be resolved if he would just cross over. He’d be healed, and whatever didn’t go away on its own he could atone for.
BTW: This is another reason we need a horror-themed graphic-novel prequel series of this strip, so we can discover who Owen was before he died. Likewise, Travis and the pre-vampyred Gary for that matter. Too bad Gary Buford is a lazy, uninspired hump.
This reminds me of the episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” where Larry held the elevator door for someone and she beat him to the sign-in sheet in the doctor’s office.
Surprising that the setup for the punchline wasn’t Burl saying “Well, I could do that”.
Also, if Joy’s living room is blue (even though it appears to be teal) and she weren’t simple she would want complementary accents, not to have everything matchy-matchy.
