I started reading Kit ’n Carlyle just 1 month before it ended the original run. And I found Motley Classics from there. Now I miss them both.

It may be time to go to the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine), see if they are there, and find the time to read a year of comics each day — starting from the beginning.

I still want to know who is cat sitting?

Have they been doing daily Zoom calls home to The Cats?

Cry “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war!

Or maybe release 1 hungry Owl.

Or enlist the help of a local clowder of fuzzy chainsaws (a.k.a., feral cats).

When the hay field next door was cut in the fall, my fuzzy chainsaws and the old “retired” Feral Tom Cat (who always scoffed at my feeble attempts to TNR) would disappear from the barn, engage the thundering herds of fleeing mice and chipmunks, and return to the barn the next day looking like they were the film extras playing Colonel Kurtz’s men from the movie Apocalypse Now.

And I would also find a mouse offering by my front door — not sure if it was a snack for me or rent for another year of room and board in the barn.

Even though they had canned food for breakfast & dinner (and unlimited kibble (which the trash pandas and possums would help themselves too), my girls loved “Fast Food” (mice, chipmunks, moles/voles, and an occasional stupid bird). They had plenty of energy to “Sport Hunt” every morning, evening, and night.

Forgot about the FORTRAN and Pascal on some sort of CP/M (pre-PC) machine.

    AdaALGOL

    I avoided LISP.

Scratch (on Raspberry Pi when available and cheap again or on PCs) is good for teaching programming concepts to kids.

    Let’s see. Basic on a teletype & PDP8, PDP11

    FORTRAN on a CDC6400, IBM360, IBM370 via 029 Keypunch & card decks

FOCAL on PDP8 via terminal (paper)

APL on IBM370 via terminal (paper)PL/C, PL/1, Assembler on IBM370 via 029 Keypunch & card decksCOBOL on IBM370 via keypunch & terminal (video)

    FORTRAN on Cray-1

    C, Assembler on AT&T 3B2 Sys 5 Rel 4 UNIX

MicroFocus COBOL, AcuCOBOL, C, C++ on SCO Xenix and SCO UNIX

Assembler, Pascal, VB, C, C++, Java on PCC++, Java, AcuCOBOL on IBM RS6000 running AIX

Assembler, C, C++ on ARM processors running LinuxJava, C, C++, Rust on Linux

Haven’t been offered enough money to do COBOL on z/OS — maybe when more Boomers die off (I’m a tail end Boomer).

I was hoping Luddy had a secret family stashed in the garage.

Long sleeve welding gauntlets, welding jacket, and a welding helmet mask that also protects your throat.
