Children far too often end up mirroring their parents’ likes and dislikes. If you don’t ever have Mexican or Indian food in the house and you make remarks about how “disgusting” you think it tastes, they’ll grow up thinking it tastes “disgusting.” I’m sure that if you repeat the meme that “beer tastes gross” (which is as useless a pronouncement as “meat/veggies tastes gross” because they’ve managed to create so many varieties and flavors of beers), then they’ll grow up thinking the same thing. If,. on the other hand, they never hear you express such negativity towards foodstuffs, they will grow up with an open mind, willing to try anything—sushi, calamari, portabella mushroom sandwiches, venison, poi, brie, lemon curry, and—yes—even beer or “bacon beer.”

Not like people don’t listen to NPR and MSNBC for the exact same reasons…..

    Oh, COME FREAKIN’ ON.

Someone explain precisely how one “sees harsh anti-gay laws in action.” Unless you go there specifically to engage in “gay” activities and get prosecuted.

Explain exactly how one would visit Sochi, or drive through Arizona, or Texas, Utah, South Carolina, etc. and “see anti-gay laws in action.” Unless you are specifically there to engage in “gay activity,” you’re not going to see it evidenced.

Even if, by some ridiculously long shot, you actually came upon some store or restaurant that had the stupid audacity to post a sign that says “no gays allowed,” that’s not a law specifically against gays, but lack of a law banning discrimination against gays—which is still an entirely different proposition than the explicitly anti-homosexual laws advocated by Putin & his administration.

I believe in rights for all, gay or whatever. But the context of this cartoon is balderdash, plain and simple.

And for that matter, a whole bunch of people with little money give some to a political candidate, and then expect “access and the candidate to do their bidding”……..
