Dear readers, all I can say is REALLY? You’d stop reading my brilliantly incisive commentary because you might disagree with me on occasion about something like climate change? I truly apologize if I’ve departed from the plantation here, but there actually IS some disagreement on the issue. If you only want to read things that you absolutely agree with, I guess this isn’t the place. Sorry for that. Not really.

College hockey still very much alive—much better game than NHL. Of course I went to DU—a hockey power—so I’m biased.

Aww, show me some love! If you don’t know women who fight with their daughters (and undercut them, deliberately or not), you don’t know women with daughters. And I don’t know about you, but I know LOTS of folks who can’t seem to make logical decisions when it comes to their own finances. And Liz may be many things, but she’s not a spendthrift.

Mean-spirited? I’m deeply hurt. When I wrote this series, I really was trying to reflect what it’s like for someone who hasn’t been in the job market for years to have to go back to work, and Sarah is never going to make her daughter’s choices easier. I don’t know about you guys, but I have yet to see a mother-daughter relation ship that isn’t fraught with conflict.

Definitely midlife crisis, sparked by wife’s new hairstyle. Doesn’t take much to set us soon-to-be geezers off.

Liz’s decision to look for a job has a profound effect on poor Sam. He begins questioning his own value, because, as we men all understand, it’s really all about.US.

It’s my biggest worry when I teach a class in cartooning, which I do on occasion—that I’m boring my students. I thought I’d turn it around in this strip and see it from a student’s point of view.

My kids were always conflicted about going back to school. By the end of summer they were bored, excited by a new classroom, new teacher, new friends, but not particularly eager for the work to begin again. Nate, an indifferent student at best, feels no such ambivalence.
