Yep. I didn’t read the actual study completely, just read the abstract and intro, so I don’t know their full methodology and it is entirely possible that they twisted the statistics.

If you want to pray, do so, I’m not going to stop you. You can pray for me if you want. I think you are just talking to yourself but if it makes you feel good, go for it. But if you want a real study, if you want to prove that pray really works, then I have an idea for you. Lets take a group of patients. Lets put half of them in a church with no medical care, just prayer. Then lets put the other group in a hospital with the best care available. We can see which group does better. Which group would you want to be in?

As someone who was a scientist, I have a nifty PhD and everything, I will tell you that you can make statistics say whatever you want. Do a statistical test and don’t get significance? Let’s try this one and see what happens? As Mark Twain said “There are three types of lies: lies, d*mned lies, and statistics”.

I remember my mom praying and praising god because she got a close parking spot. I also remember praying and god letting my 9 year old cousin die from brain cancer. God is a useless imaginary being. Santa Claus for adults.

And I love it when people try to twist things to support their viewpoint. Being prayed for led to more stress which led to more complications. A leads to B which leads to C.

Interestingly this study found that prayer made things worse. Prayer is just talking to yourself.

“The largest study yet on the therapeutic power of prayer by strangers has found that it provided no benefit to the recovery of patients who had undergone cardiac bypass surgery.

In an unexpected twist, patients who knew prayers were being said for them had more complications after surgery than those who did not know, researchers reported Thursday.

The complications were minor, and doctors surmised that they could have been caused by the increased stress on patients worried that their conditions were so bad they needed prayers."

Diabetes drug that people are using for weight loss. Sucks because my diabetic wife was unable to get her medicine for several months because people were being prescribed it for weight loss.

Your lord and savior is not someone I am interested in knowing. I have read his book and he doesn’t seem like that nice of a guy. And the stuff his dad did, just horrible. Are you sure that god is the good guy?

I was a cashier years ago when a majority of people still paid with checks. If I had someone come to my register, talking on their cell phone, and paying with a check I would hit a button on my register that required me to ask for ID. They would then have to interrupt their conversation to hunt through their purse or wallet and get out their ID so I could enter their driver’s license number. It was petty but it just annoyed me that people would talk on the phone while in line.
