YES! Belated happy birthday! As others have said, it was “Jack & Jill” magazine. I loved those stories! And, as other people also posted here, it was a mortar steered by a pestle that she flew in through the skies. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough Baba Yaga stories over the years. I keep wishing for more! A Google search brings up Wikipedia’s article, which has several versions of similar plots. A kind reader of another strip pointed me here, which was very nice, and this strip is interesting, but my heart yearns for the original Baba Yaga….

All words and characters are in a typeface. What the OP means is that is in an italic font. You’re welcome.

Glad that things worked out for all of you! They may not be happy memories, but at least you are alive to recount them!!!

When I had a Koi pond, I would always talk to the fish as I approached their pond, so they got in the habit of surfacing whenever I talked to them. Not so much my (then) wife.

Loved the Baba Yaga stories in a kids’ magazine when I was a kid. Are there still Baba Yaga stories around somewhere?

Upside down and backwards us the way that printers read type. In the brothers’ mirrors that’s the way it would appear, probably.
