YES! Belated happy birthday! As others have said, it was “Jack & Jill” magazine. I loved those stories! And, as other people also posted here, it was a mortar steered by a pestle that she flew in through the skies. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough Baba Yaga stories over the years. I keep wishing for more! A Google search brings up Wikipedia’s article, which has several versions of similar plots. A kind reader of another strip pointed me here, which was very nice, and this strip is interesting, but my heart yearns for the original Baba Yaga….
When I had a Koi pond, I would always talk to the fish as I approached their pond, so they got in the habit of surfacing whenever I talked to them. Not so much my (then) wife.
