What New York has done is sick and evil, and this cartoon is brilliant. It makes no sense to say that the people of New York are free to make any law. If they are free to legalize infanticide, then they are free to legalize all kinds of murder, pedophilia, rape, and just anything. I just read this on National Review Online: “Just beside Freedom Tower, two pools mark the spot of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Around each of them are inscribed the names of every person murdered that day, and beside the names of eleven of those women the carved stone says, ‘and her unborn child.’ … These are human lives.” Yet Governor Cuomo announced that the spire of Freedom Tower would be lit up in pink to celebrate the occasion of his murderous law.

I do not comment here, but I read the comments, and Susan Sunshine is always funny and interesting. It’s absurd that she has been blocked.

This is long, but it is what Obama said in January of 2008:

“Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

“What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.

“I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

“That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

“The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

“It’s just that it will bankrupt them.”

So, Obama will not ban coal; he will just price it out of existence.

Waiters and waitresses get paid almost nothing by their employers; they do not get minimum wage. They depend on tips. My son is a waiter and often his paycheck is zero. I do not understand it completely, but I think that since he takes the tip home each day and the employer keeps track of it, when he gets paid the tax on the tips is subtracted and his take home is zero or close to zero. Serving the customers is a lot of work and the tip is deserved, whether or not the waiter/waitress is smiling.
