    Actually trekman58, quail are not only quite capable of roosting in trees, they do so frequently. At least the ones around here do. Try googling “quail” and then go to images to see quail in trees….Partridges are a member of the pheasant family (not the same as quail) and ARE ground birds…

    Thanks. Now I’m crying. I still have my dad but he’s failing. At least he has lived long enough to see both his grandsons grow up. I hope he at least makes it to next summer so he can see the oldest finish grad school and get married.

    The expression is “more confused than a goat on Astroturf” and you stole that from Darryl “The Razor” Reaugh an announcer for the Dallas Stars who has used that expression for as long as he’s been behind the mike….
