“Man” and “Men” can be both a reference to the male sex of the species and a reference to the species as a whole. At the time the English language came about, men essentially ran everything, and the dual use of the word didn’t seem so sexist. In any event, to Jefferson, “man” essentially meant “people” in the context in which he was writing.
Being poorly written tripe may be a good reason not to read a book, but not a reason to ban it. “Ban”, of course, means complete suppression of the printing and/or sale of a book, not the right of libraries not to shelve it or the right of schools to omit it from their courses (and those are two different things.)
I know, everyone else has already noticed it long since, but I’m new here and I used to own a TRaSh-80 just like Her Majesty’s, and kept it until 1990.
My first exposure to Adventure was on a VAX, using a serial typewriter terminal. I understand it was written for a PDP-10, although I saw it on a VAX. I later had it on my TRS-80 (Model I, although it only got that appellation later).
