Yes, Obama’s lost popularity among those whose expectations were absurd. But given that Obama inherited Bush’s defiled White House and a national image that did absolutely nothing to support cooperation among nations other than those run by dictators, sheiks, whatever… I think Obama is giving 100% to get our nation and our national image revitalized and forward moving. We are fortunate to have such a smart, centered, and democratic individual as President. Who do you know that would have leapt over all these outrageous obstacles in one or two fell swoops–Afghanistan, Pakistan, the American and indeed global economic crisis, and the health care mess where insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies are just raking in the bucks at the cost of real health care for almost all Americans. Who would you propose could do better than Barack Obama? He’s a brilliant man, and he’s not impulsive like Bush was, so we don’t need to think he’s going to thoughtlessly blow up some Middle Eastern or Latin American country in the middle of the night so we read about it in the morning news! Personally, I’m delighted he takes time to think deeply about such terribly serious matters before coming to a decision. No, he can’t wait forever. But we have reached a point where so much is at stake around the globe. And then we have Hugo Chavez Pres. of Venezuela announcing preparations of armies to attack Columbia, due to his misunderstanding of a certain pact between the U.S. and Columbia…Yeah, who would you want to call if we were suddenly attacked because some dictator’s aide conveyed incorrect news to his boss, and his boss exploded with anger and decided to show some real macho muscle against the U.S.? I have faith based in careful attention to the facts that President Barack Obama is absolutely the best person for the job. And I do hate those stupid references to Osama when discussing Mr. Obama. That is a cheap shot that tries to foster fear that our president is actually a terrorist or has links to them. It also suggests that all Muslims are terrorists, another braindead attitude that does nothing to heal the wounds of Muslim civilians and soldiers who are totally against any and all terrorism at home or abroad, and who are tired and angry at being stereotyped as terrorists merely because they have a name like “Osama.” It’s not the name, nationality, or ethnicity, or religion that somehow “breeds” terrorists. It is a combination of forces entirely variable within different communities, and it’s far too complex and variable a process to be reduced to such attributions as mentioned above. When I see an instance where some commentator has used the name “Osama” to refer to “Obama,” I see only the uninformed, knee-jerk reactionary mind behind that choice of a slam against the President. If you want to be seen that way, that’s always your choice, because we have Freedom of Speech for everyone, even those who write or say hateful and untrue things.

You can go to Yahoo International, select any of the many countries listed, and Yahoo will bring up current press/news from within that country. Then select a page you wish to read, and go to a translator through Google, or wherever, and there’s a good chance you end up with a translation that makes enough sense to convey what’s going on. You do need to know some geography so you know which country you want to get news from, so you can click on the country name. But most of us can manage that much!
