Do you think that nurse is hobbling over to her neighbor’s be with her walker to take his temperature because she feels some obligation? No. It’s because it’s her calling. If I’m visiting a friend in the hospital and they say they’re not feeling well I’ll do a quick assessment while we’re waiting for the nurse to come. Or if it came to that (I hope it never does!) I’d start CPR while waiting for the code team.
