Staple Center didn’t open until October 1998. It has been the venue for the Grammy Awards when the show is held in Los Angeles.
In the 80s and 90s, the Academy Awards alternated between the Shrine Auditorium and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (the Music Center) in Los Angeles. The Shrine is beautiful inside, and very spacious.
