I … LOVE … Sylvia / Nicole Hollander. She nailed it once again with wit and humor.

Obama used working people - which is 99.5% of Americans - with messages such as ‘hope’ and ‘change’. If we DON’T demand single payer, yes socialized medicine, and soon – what little hope this country has of steering away from the financial cliff corporate medicine is sending America off from will be irrevocable. Remember, costs associated with protections (meager at present though they may be after years of corporate-written dismantling) in these sectors are all socialized: banking, food and drug, EPA, fire, police, roads, public education, law. Follow Europe’s lead.

    On gov’t subsidizing and regulation:

Corporations in the market to buy members of congress through lobbyists and campaign contributions LOVE to rail against any gov’t regulations (as they subsidize congress members coffers) but then flip flop to beg to be bailed out by ‘the gov’t after they’ve sucked as much from the bubble working people pay into their schemes. Roughly 60% of the people, nurses and doctors want single payer – they don’t believe the tripe FOX, Limbaugh / Hannity/ etc. lie about on the air waves. I do love to see how republicans - who are conserving nothing and do not deserve the name conservative - have been winding the long rope they’ve taken all about their necks.

The party and practice of old and old minded / fear minded people will and must end.

    Given

America’s racists past (and present) - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racismin_theUnited_States) and The blood poor and middle class people have spilled for the rich, regardless of nationality… there is far more potential for a meeting of minds between Obama and members of the VFW, given they are both being used by super rich ideologues to vilify the newest boogie men – people from the middle east – a usefully vague category.

How ironic Saudi Arabia is not amongst the nations we seek to mold into unregulated capitalism – even though the vast majority of 911 highjackers were Arabians and their laws are incredibly women hating). Must be all the oil they have and how in debt we are to them.

This shell of an empire wont’ last long. At its core the u.s. is consumed with fear, never really aware of how our past hubris has made us the bully boy in the family of nations. Spoiled and greedy, casting our policy and chemical filth all over the world.

Every dawn brings another chance to make amends.

not only low-level humor, but I bristle @ the comic misuse of torture concepts while neocons perpetrate and dems waffle on the actual use of and impact of real torture.
