   I used to think that Hunk Ra was an amusing manifestation of a personality disorder. Upon reading today’s comic, however, I realized my wife also channels an ancient warrior. I don’t know it’s name yet, but I recognize its voice every time I do something especially stupid. “That voice” is terrifying and always sets me straight. I think my wife’s channeled warrior exists to make me a better person. Anyway, that’s how I’m choosing to look at it.

   The Copyright says 1993, so that could be the end of the George H. W. Bush administration or the first year of the Clinton white House. The use of the name “Josh” in the first panel suggests the former and may refer to Joshua Bolton, who was Director of Legislative Affairs.

   SimonJester, Great point! I’ve been wondering if anyone else saw the conservative attack on th e14th Amendment as an opportunity to correct all the other Amendments. But, why stop there? I wouldn’t mind canning the entire Constitution and starting over. Except, of course, that I don’t trust any elected officials today to do a better job than a bunch of 18th Century criminals. Think how well we’ve done at nation building in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, to say nothing of Panama, Guatemala, Chile, The Philippines, Granada, Iran (pre-Islamic revolution), etc.

   Enough of the “Freedom Fries” bullshit. We’re the pussies, not the French. We’ve all been brainwashed (well, maybe not all of us) into believing that dissenters are terrorists. We use the words “liberty” and “America” interchangeably. But in fact, we’re the most tightly controlled society in human history. No wonder the rest of the world uses the words “American” and “stupid” interchangeably.
