   If you would like to see a dead ringer for the Gasoline Alley city hall in real life, go to “google maps”, type in “227 South Center Street, Statesville NC” and then do street view on center street. I working in this building for 11 years. No spittoons, but there were ash trays stored in the basement.

   PTL -pass the loot. Back when this was happening the morning radio hosts in Charlotte had a field day lampooning the “pass the loot club”.

   They are on I-277. Old interstate highway that circles Charlotte. Highway 16 intersects from the North and the mountains are North of Charlotte. The fictional town of Gasoline Alley is probably North of Charlotte somewhere near 16. 277 is short – only 6 miles in circumference.

   That is definitely the old city hall building in Statesville, North Carolina.

   I worked in a building from 1996 to 2007 that looks exactly like the one Jim has drawn. It is located in Statesville, North Carolina. Here is the google maps location: https://www.google.com/maps/@35.7830129,-80.8871972,21z?hl=en I think he is using the Statesville building since the doors are jutting out – something they corrected back to the original in the 2007 renovation.

   I worked in a building from 1996 to 2007 that looks exactly like the one Jim has drawn. It is located in Statesville, North Carolina.     I did not know Garfield lived above the Arctic Circle. Also, maybe they should turn on some lights!
