He’s a bandido, that’s all. P51Strega is right.
You could have been Canadian. Last time I ordered iced tea in Alberta I asked for iced tea, no sugar. The waitress got snippy with me and said, “This is Canada. We only serve iced tea with sugar.”Oh well. I took water instead.
I don’t know anybody who leaves the tea bag in the cup (other than those folks above who said they did). Tea should steep for a few minutes to reach its best strength. It takes 15 minutes or so to enjoy a cup of tea unless you’re in an unholy hurry. Leaving the bag in all that time results in bitter tea. Most cartoonists depict their characters carrying a cup with a bag hanging out of it to indicate that they’re drinking tea rather than coffee or some other beverage.

The late Charlie Russell (the painter) had a story about a friend who coped with the Spanish flu, Bung-style.His doctor advised him to take a mouthful of whiskey every day to avoid catching it. He said he measured a mouthful and it came to an even pint. “The flu never touched him, but after a while he started seeing things that weren’t in the natural history. One night he saw a polar bear in a raccoon coat, sitting on the stove and eating a hot tamale.”
Oh for crying out loud, quit preaching and stop turning this into a political argument.

Good point.Phone numbers in the US (at least until the proliferation of new area codes due to fax machines, cell phones, etc.) were deliberately set at 7 digits because most people can remember 7-digit numbers fairly easily but 8 digits not so easily. But the way things are now we’re having to remember 10 digits. (The 1 doesn’t count.)
