On so many levels, this particular strip is so wrong. Portraying Calvin as a jerk goes over the edge…and then having him blow off his mother makes him super dislikable.
How about a Calvin wake-up moment for Mother’s Day -just once this year let him feel love for his Mom. In real life parents are not just comic kid police enemies! You show his parents as constantly angry while Calvin is zestfully defiant.
That said, I am wistful that I did not have the great adventures in my childhood that naughty Calvin and Imaginary Hobbes have.
This one has fallen off the cliff. Not funny. Sick. Next are you having this child act out those actions just to shock his parents?
