Transcript:
Carmen: Kenneth Watt said at Swarthmore College, April 19, 1970: the world will be "... eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an Ice Age." Winslow: What's your point, Carmen? Carmen: What makes climate theory more accurate now than it was then? Winslow: The Internet? Carmen: Right. 'Cause everything on the Internet is true. I forgot...
“What makes climate theory more accurate now than it was then?” How about 38 YEARS worth of advances in the field? How about the consensus that, as measured RIGHT NOW, not back in 1970, the world *is* colder, and getting more so?Just because Stantis voices his rhetoric through an 8-year-old girl and a cuddly fox doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to substantiate what he says. Sometimes, I fear the values his comic espouses are what’re decades old - and stale.
