Pluggers by Rick McKee for January 30, 2023

The fact that only pluggers use checks in the first place anymore is also a dead giveaway.

I’m waiting for Rick to do one on pluggers not being able to figure out how to use PayPal, Venmo, or Google/Apple Pay. (Especially since those won’t work on a flip phone.)

A lot of old pluggers let their wives write the checks.

Only us pluggers still WRITE checks… except me. I don’t even order checks anymore. I use my cards and get cash back when I need cash. No checks at all, and I HATE to get behind someone in a checkout line who is writing a check.

The year 2023, already? My father would have been one hundred years old this year!

I still use an occasional check for things that are not regular payments. Google and Apple Pay are their way to learn about your finances and buying preferences.

Still write out checks just not as many as I did in the past . Been putting the dates and purchase paid on items that I have bought to keep track of inflation since most stores do not put price tags on items any longer . Yes it is extra work but tis the only way I know how to track the inflation bug we have all been hit with ;-)

67 years old, as pay online almost exclusively. For years, only one bill gets paid by check. Property tax on small piece of land in Kentucky. No internet way to pay, and won’t take payment over phone.

Your a plugger if you still bend over to pick a penny up off the ground.

First year in a long time that I got it right on the first check written of the year and been good on all the rest. I’m a true Plugger as I don’t trust these dang computers, internet service/reliability, or WiFi. Only use my cell phone for talking , general text conversations, and an occasional picture I need to text. No Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram either.

Lots of small companies prefer checks, as any home owner would know.

LOL… Yep, I still write a couple checks per month these days. Otherwise, use all online websites to pay monthly bills.

Since one year is just like another, it’s hard to determine when a new one has really started and the old one ended. I still use checks.

I haven’t written a check in many a year and would not know how to use one today. Just one less item to carry—check books add bulk to pocket or purse.

When I wrote checks often, at the turn of the year I would write the new date on about 20 checks in advance to give my absent-minded brain cells time to adapt, lol.

I keep a log of our mail received and opened in an Excel worksheet since the pandemic started as the mail was coming so oddly and late and have kept doing so as it is a good reference and the mail still comes oddly sometimes.

I copied last year’s worksheet at the start of this year as this year’s worksheet and deleted all of the entries from the new worksheet. I had been entering the mail for about 2 weeks before I realized that I was using – no, not 2022 – 2011 as the year in the entries!

These days we only use checks when online payments aren’t accepted.
