There’s times Earl wishes Muffins would be put to sleep I bet.
A common mistake among newbies. Unless the cat was a holy terror.
ROR – Rots of Ruck, Opal.
Soon it may mean Look Out Lady
I’ve never seen Opal on a computer before. This opens a whole new realm of jokes to come. Opal and her daughter can now communicate on Facebook together. Wait till Nelson is old enough to get his own Facebook account. Grandma will be watching him.
I’m pretty sure another comic strip did the “LOL=Lots Of Love” gag to death a year or two ago.
No need friending the kooks – or if they’re in your family and you don’t want to say no, just hide them.
I very seldom get on FB anymore. Instead I am on Google + (G+) now. Really haven’t been there lately, too busy with life. Hhhmmm, maybe I ought to buy a Toyota!
@Lee: Not right or wrong, but it would appear you’re one of the few. My experience of + thus far is a glitzy but unoccupied mansion. Keeping my account there until the dust settles, though.
As for “LOL”, I first saw it here, but having Opal do the gag brings it to an entirely new demographic that’s probably unaware of what goes on in cyberspace.
I didn’t know that I put LOL on all my fb messages OOPS.
I’m trapped in Facebook for ever!!! My whole life is in Facebook. :(
I’m not prone to LOLygagging…:-) but I might over do the emoticons ;-) on rare occasions… :-D
As Mrs. Pickles, I laugh and laugh at this strip! Earl and Opal make me think of my inlaws and just smile!
I do fb and you can make secure to only ones you know then you won’t hear from all those other you do not know. You can also turn down other and not accept them.
The “lots of love” joke. Again. How refreshing.
When I started on “the internet” an old friend added LOL to an email. I couldn’t understand why she was mentioning the LOL or “Loyal Orange Lodge”, especially when she was Catholic.
For all who don’t know, this is not and original strip. This was originally presented as a story on the NPR program “This American Life”, if I’m not mistaken. Sorry, Mr. Crane, but I think you need to write your own jokes.
I’ve totally regret some relatives; friended on facebook..
@Vanpelt, second only to forum members whose only posts consist of variations on “hahahaha”
Gee, back in the old CB days, it meant Little Old Lady . . . what happened?!? /☻\
Opal comes from the age of tape drives and commodore 64s. She could probably write a program in basic. It would be best if LOL is discontinued. The joke in this strip is an obvious one. Easy for more than one person to create it. No plagiarism is necessary for it to be duplicated. I like it.
I don’t do Facebook, don’t trust it!
Oh dear.. Poor Pearl.
@Raspberryice54….you don’t “friend” kooks, or people who you don’t know. People need to educate themselves about this type of media to know what and how to use it properly and safely. :o)
That’s what my daughter says! When my mom laughs, she says “LOL LOL!” (Little old lady laughing out loud!) :-)
I don’t do facebook. Don’t have the interest or the time.
that comic was lots of laughs…
LOLFP..(From Pasadena Go granny..go granny.. go..go..go)
When I started out I thought LOL meant Lots of Luck. Ah, the old days when acronyms were unfamiliar unless you worked for the gov’t or a library… :o)
and that made me LOL
First time my Son sent that I thought it was Lots-Of-Love as well.
