Technical possibility about the hearning aid claim: When I first heard about the guy’s relatives claiming he heard voices shortly after getting “high-powered” hearing aids, I thought it was impossible. First of all, what did they mena by “high-powered”? were they extra sensitive, or did they mean highly capable? I recently go hearing aids and if I were to start hearing voices anytime i wore them, I would immediately be bringing them back to the audiologist. I initially thought there would be no way that could happen anyway. Then a couple of days later, I woke up realizing how such a thing might happen and that would be if the hearing aids were in constant “pairing” mode through the bluetooth. Normally, it is the purpose of the phone or other device to actively search out the hearing aids and the hearing aids would only respond when specifically called out. However, all it would take would be a shorted transistor somewhere in the hearing aid’s communication system to put it in constant pairing mode with any device that might have its bluetooth on. Thus he could have actually been hearing a multitude of conversations segments. It would be surprising for someone hearing these snippest not to suspect it’s something external, especially if it only happens when doing something specific (in this case, wearing the hearing aids). I have decades of experience in electronics. I know it is possible. I do think he had mental problems, but it would be interesting to see if that possibility existed and made the problems worse.
