Hello, Stephan,Thanks for all your strips. You’re a wonderful cartoonist. I would like to raise several issues with your strip of 201802031. How you you know for certain that no one knows what we’re doing here? How did you come to that conclusion.2. Faith is not “wishing” but is “confidence” in what knows to be true.3. Yes. Some are scared. Yes. Some cling to money or awards.4a. IF there is no God, then you are absolutely correct that none of this has any significance.4b. But you’ve understated the case. Without God, there is no meaning, value, nor significance to any of life. (Search W.L.Craig for an elabration on this point.)4c. Without God, there is no objective standard for morality either.4d. Without and objective standard of morality, there is no objective right or wrong.4e. Without objective morality, there is only subjective morality. There is no value to “love.” It’s equally as valuable as hate. A Mother Teresa is morally equivalent to an Aldoph Hitler.5. But God does exist.6a. If you want to search, then the logical place to start is with Jesus.6b. He alone claimed to BE God. Read John. The Jews picked up stones to stone him because they said that he was committing blasphemy – claiming to be God.6c. He said that the vindication of his claim to be God would be his resurrection.6d. He rose from the dead. See Habermas and Licona On the Case for the Resurrection of Jesus. The objective evidence is clear.6e. Therefore, he is God.
I had a family member die when I was young. I decided either that God did not exist or that he didn’t care. I became an atheist. I later looked at the evidence when I was a senior in college. I’d encourage you to do the same. Read John and ask who Jesus claimed to be.Anyone who is honest with the data will come to the same conclusion.I’m now 63 with a Ph.D. in biology. Since my senior college year, I’ve only seen how strong the evidence is for Jesus’ claims.
I wish you the best. I’m always open for discussion.
