Lucy approaches Charlie Brown standing on the pitcher's mound. She says,"Hey, manager..."<BR><BR> She smiles and continues,"I have a great idea"<BR><BR> She says,"You know what we ought to do to win? We ought to pray..." He replies,"Pray?! Would that be fair?"<BR><BR> Lucy points off to her left as the baseball player walks up to the mound. The former continues,"Why not? I pray all the time out there in right field...I pray they won't hit the ball to me"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown looks at the reader as the baseball player spreads her hands and says,"I've done that, too...I don't want to be the goat"<BR><BR> They all turn as Linus walks up and says,"Me, too...I always pray they won't hit the ball to me"<BR><BR> As Charlie Brown rears back to pitch, voices start calling,"Please don't let him hit it to me..." "Please don't!" "Not to me!" "Please, not to me!"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown is flipped up into the air as the ball he pitches is returned with a POW!<BR><BR> As he lies grimacing and dazed on the mound, the voices conclude,"Thank you" "Thank you" "Thank you" "Amen" Charlie Brown exclaims,"I can't stand it!"<BR><BR>
So that’s why misfortune always happens to him, he doesn’t pray
