Lucy sits on the floor and writes.(BR) (BR) She looks at it: "There!"(BR) (BR) She walks up to Schroeder, who is playing the piano. "I have a surprise for you, Schroeder.."(BR) (BR) He looks up: "What is it?" Lucy sits on the floor and leans over the piano to face Schroeder: "A picture of Beethoven! I drew it myself!" She holds it up for him.(BR) (BR) Schroeder holds it up and exclaims, "Well, I'll be!! This is swell!" SHe offers, "I thought maybe you'd like to have it - to hang in your room.."(BR) (BR) "That's a good idea.." Schroeder agrees as they walk along. Lucy says, "I'm so happy that you like it, Schroeder..I would have been disappointed if you hadn't..."(BR) (BR) They stand in Schroeder's room, which is dominated by an enormous portrait of Beethoven. Schroeder looks around and asks, "Now, where do you think I should hang it?" Lucy stares at the picture and thinks, "!" (BR) (BR) "Hang it around your neeck, you blockhead!" Lucy announces as she stalks off. Schroeder looks after her, bemused.(BR) (BR)
I don’t know what’s more impressive, his massive Beethoven portrait, seeing an adult’s face in a Peanuts strip, or the fact that Lucy apparently drew a Schroeder-approved picture of Beethoven without photo reference.
