There was a woman that worked as a landlord’s assistant at an apartment complex I used to live at. No one knew the word “Anoesis” at that time, so we all just called her “waste of space”.I would have guessed this one if I just had a little more time for it!

Anoesis is derived from the Greek word noesis meaning reason or intellect and the prefix a- meaning not. “Boy, does that shoe fit the horse.”

I think that Wiley has a new “Mrs. Byrnes 365 Day-Calendar” and was just dying for a chance to use it. Sophomanic would have been a good choice, too.

Well, I read this on my computer, so I could Google it. Looked like “ANDESIS”, though, which apparently isn’t a word, and I had to go back and check it again, by which time it was too late even to smile. Timing is important, and if you have to take a break to look up a word, it spoils it.

Maybe it just means ‘gut feel only’ analysis. Nothing in the definition says that cognitive processing would improve or even preserve the sensation and emotion value.

Yeah, anoesis is Cap’n Eddy in one word. Come to think of it, that’s also politicians, bankers, and corporate execs in one word. At least the part about no thinking; I’m becoming convinced the latter three are sociopaths to a one and thus can’t feel emotion.

Ten years later, this word perfectly characterizes many political and social responses to current issues, ranging from election results, to economic policies, to crowd control in unrest situation, to covid-19 mask/vaccination programs

… and I’m inserting links to this strip to my social media and email discussion activities.

    So there.
