Well, Naples (Italy) has been living next to an active volcano (Vesuvius) for several thousand years as have other inhabited areas. I don’t view it as any worse than the fires in the west (which could be, for various reasons, attributable to human actions), or living in known hurricane zones, etc. There is no place that humans won’t live, and no place that is not susceptible to natural disasters of some sort.
