Sadly, there have been incidents where people who were wearing MAGA hats and pro-Trump clothing were targeted and even assaulted because they were wearing such clothing.
For example, out in El Dorado, California, there was a situation in which a high school girl saw a classmate with a MAGA hat, ripped it off of his head, yelled at him, and then slapped a teacher when the teacher intervened.
Or here in Texas (specifically, at a Whataburger in San Antonio) a 30-year-old yanked a Trump hat off of a teenager in such a violent fashion as to pull hair out and then dumped his beverage on the kid.
Other incidents I’m aware of include a college student who stole the Trump hat off of another student’s head and then tried to tell the campus security officials that the student who wore the hat was the real criminal, a 50-something who made offensive remarks to a group of 14-year-old girls because one of them had a Trump shirt on, and a woman who is facing deportation because she laid hands on a guy who wrote his Trump hat to a Mexican restaurant.
It’s now to the point that wearing pro-Trump clothing is more of an act of open defiance than anything having to do with Trump himself.
