And whose fault is that?
Now, go take a look at what their competitors are charging. Who is getting screwed?
So you’re saying it’s just fine for a family car to be as out of reach for the average Joe as a yacht or private jet?
In 1914, that wacky socialist Henry Ford doubled employee pay and reduced the workday to eight hours. Ford’s business boomed, in no small part because he made it possible for his employees to afford his products.
Earliest car I drove was a Model B, my brother’s Ford. Good car. I never got-to drive his Essex-Terraplane, 1934?
Since our society is based on the automobile, the comparison is absurd. Maybe next do a cartoon that ridicules attempts at increasing mass transit, followed by one about how workers aren’t filling job openings?
I’m not sure what Mr. Lester’s point is here. On the face of it he seems to be arguing that we are all servants of the wealthy and that seems very off message coming from Mr. Lester.
Was looking at a new\used car this year. Can’t afford it, so I took a large portion of the money saved up for a down payment and put it into my old one.
the free market is all about talent, skill, and risk-taking…if you don’t like the voluntary exchange rate between buyers and sellers, labor and capital, then go and do something else…that’s why it’s called a “free market”…be free to succeed or fail on your own dime…
Most Jewelers and Architects are self-employed I’m sure every one of them wears a ring and lives in a house
Without sounding like a socialist! How can you justify a CEO getting a $40 million dollar raise! He is a CEO not the founder of the company. That’s the main reason why the costs of all products are going up because of greed. Example: saw show of headlights being made. The new type halogen. Not a single person touched the manufacturing of this product. Machine built! Yet this thing cost approximately $30 to fix your car. In the 60’s we would INSTALL a seal beam head light for less than $5. Oh yes and gas was $.35/gal with TV stamps and free glass, check under your hood, vacuum your car for you, check air pressure in your tires, and pump your gas.
Bidenomics is great, huh? NOT!
Lester, the comic artist so clueless,
Comparing jobs, he got quite ruthless.
Auto workers and yachts,
In his mind, matched in plots,
But his logic was simply fruitless.
For cars on assembly lines raced,
While yacht builders’ dreams were embraced.
Luxury’s the divide,
Lester couldn’t decide,
His comparison’s a puzzle misplaced.
Johnny Cash couldn’t afford a Cadillac in the 1950’s.
I don’t understand. Is lester suggesting that American cars are so expensive that architects and private plane pilots can afford them???Is that funny? Is that clever? Am I missing something?
Set up a straw man and knock it down. Nice work if you can get it.
Even with Trump’s tax help, most wealthy people cannot afford the upkeep on a Yacht or a private aircraft. But most jewelers can afford their jewelry and architects can afford to life in the homes they design.
more molesting of facts.
You cannot rebuild the middle class, and continue record profits and CEO pay of $90 million annually.
