So WHEN (and WHY) did our culture turn into a war zone? If we insist on thinking about it in these terms it WILL color our other thoughts and actions.
Yeah, I get the joke about bringing ice cream to a knife fight, but it suddenly hit me that this is NOT a good way to perceive how we interact.
PS: I recall a story that featured a lieutenant in Vietnam (shows how old I am, eh) who managed to get the local kids working for him, bringing in mines and info by using an old dozer radiator to make wrap-around cones and the company freezer to create ice cream.
