I am thinking if they rename military bases they should name one after Gen Yeager. And other real American heroes.

Charles (Chuck) E. Yeager, Brig Gen, USAF (Ret)

“He has slipped the surely bounds of Earth…Put out his hand and touched the face of God.”

Paraphrasing from “High Flight” by John Gillespie Magee Jr. Pilot Officer, RCAF (09 JUN 1922 – 11 DEC 1942)

I wonder if Brig. General Chuck Yeager was included in Trump’s list of Generals he was smarter than? Actually my first question to Trump would be, "Do you know who Chuck Yeager was? . . . ./S

My favorite quote from an article on his life and death (to paraphrase) was saying that sex was a much better experience than breaking the sound barrier. A true American hero, never tooted his own horn despite all of his accomplishments.

I wish this would be printed in color in our newspaper. Black and white will not do it justice.

I actually helped fly the Bell X-1 at an altitude of six feet and a speed of one mile an hour. The original aircraft (filled with concrete) was on display at the U.S. Air Force Academy and someone had moved it in front of the cafeteria overnight. We put it back by passing it overhead hand-to-hand, hundreds of us. It’s rare you get to touch part of the history of your hero.
