“The guy can not even pick up the phone to help out the guys in Benghazi.”No more so than Republicans were willing to pay for security personnel.

There was no reason for us to be in Iraq, except for some idiots who didn’t know the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan (and probably couldn’t spell it anyhow).

When President Obama abruptly pulled our troops out of Iraq he left a weak and developing democracy at the mercy of influence from Iran and from terrorist groups. President Obama’s mismanagement of Iran, Egypt, and Syria has weakened forces of moderation and increased the power of extremist movements. While it would be wrong to put blame wholly on Obama for the events in Iraq he does bear a significant responsibility for what has developed.

The Iraqi Government needed for political reasons to be reluctant to host American troops, but they did make overtures indicating that they would be willing to enter into a agreement. President Obama declined to give them political cover to accept an agreement because he wanted to pull out anyway; you may recall that that was his position in 2008 and in fact he would have left earlier had President Bush’s surge strategy not embarrassingly managed to stabilize the Iraqi political situation. -Well, now the political situation has been destabilized and those past gains have been lost. I have no doubt that had John McCain won the 2008 presidential election we would have negotiated a status of forces agreement with Iraq and its political stability would be much better than it is today.

Harley: look up some reality, the two “contractors” killed on the roof of the CIA complex in Benghazi were there because they were sent as part of a group from Tripoli to Benghazi, as a response to a phone call!!!

Denis: I was in ’Nam because of the “domino theory” of Communism, now Viet Nam is getting to be more capitalist than the U.S.! (as is China)

dominos is a game for old men to play while they send young men out to die for them, while they run the casino gaming on who will win the most money, them, of course.

MikeFive: “Under Fire, the Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi” Burton and Katz: it gives basically the hour by hour timeline of everything that actually happened. Yes, the guys from Tripoli got held up at Benghazi airport by local officials till the right bribes were paid, but they were flown by 130 from Tripoli. More, including Marines couldn’t be sent because A. the embassy in Tripoli was under threat, and B. our “agreements” with the Libyans said no uniformed military could be used.

^sorry, that “You” in the ps was the hypothetical “right winger”, not the you, you.

The two fatalities atop the CIA annex were indeed contractors, not SEALs as is often claimed. The book I spoke of is not only an outstanding documentation, it is all based on correct information, and all points well documented as to source. The key point btw about their sacrifice was that ALL 34 EMPLOYEES WERE RESCUED!(another little fact I’ve not heard a single “Hillary did it!” screamer mention, NOT ONE!)

My son spent five of his 13 years with the teams, no he wasn’t a SEAL, but trained them and worked closely with them, and other jobs overseas that gave him first hand information on what we’ve been up to in a number of places. My own experience in government also went “interesting directions”, and knowing people in military, FBI, Secret Service and other agencies as friends and coworkers, you learn NEVER to trust a politician! (but isn’t that obvious? Well I have met two I’d actually believe.
