Liberal media?? The mainstream media is owned by huge international corporations and they don’t tell us anything that their executives do not want us to hear. They are “liberal” only in that they are not as neo-fascist as Fox, Rush, & co. You ever hear of a straw man argument? If you believe the mainstream media is “liberal”, you have just bought yourself a straw man.

@s: You listen to Rush and you call me “brain-dead?” Two of the biggest sins are: 1) Telling other people what to think. and 2) Letting other people tell you what to think. You and Rush seem to have both pretty well tied up. Just what we need—people who call themselves dittoheads and appear to be proud of it. Sonycorp, Disneycorp, GE, Fox—all “liberal”. Geesh!

Jerry, printing a joke book would be considered a “liberal” thing to do. Its art, culture, requires thought- not going to happen.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when the 11 year old boy in Minnesota knocked a 3 inch hockey puck through a 3 1/2 inch hole 89 feet away to win $50,000?Except his father decided it was a teachable moment and decided to reveal it was the twin brother of the kid whose name was called, and so they didn’t get the money.Fox news failed to mention the father.I have often been suspicious of that station’s reporting (channel 13 in Tampa) but this was the first time I had a story to compare.

It is hardly ‘religious rantings’ for Bachmann to echo the teachings of the Bible, which, by the way, approx. 70% of Americans believe!

Stephen, only about 23% subscribe to the “evangelical” side Bachmann and the “righties” are courting so intently. A good portion of that roughly 70% DO still believe in Article Vi that says there shall be NO religious tests in America. THAT is the problem with the fundamentalists who DEMAND “religious testing” (even if only in the “public eye”) in their candidates- it simply violates the Constitution.

Bruce, 4671….Aren’t you doing in the third sentence what you said DrC was doing in the first sentence?

@Drc: The problem you see is that you lump everyone into a “group” and assign that groups perceived values to each individual. But in reality, the republican party does not represent what all conservatives believe. A third party however would give the democrats the ability to spend the nation into oblivion, take over all the business in the country and subjugate the citizens “for their own good”.

No, a ‘leftist position’ is one that looks upon government programs as the solution to every problem, no matter how wasteful or inefficient that program might be. Leftists don’t care what kind of a hole their programs put the economy in, as long as they can ‘feel good’ that they have done the right thing!

I’m glad you put “leftist position” in quotes before you went on with your definition.

“It is hardly ‘religious rantings’ for Bachmann to echo the teachings of the Bible, which, by the way, approx. 70% of Americans believe!”At one point in time, a majority of the populace believed the earth was flat, you could fall off the edge, and the sun revolved around it. At an even earlier point in time, the majority believed there was a pantheon of gods and goddesses who controlled every aspect of the universe.
