A family drives past a gas station that is advertising gasoline for $1.97 per gallon. Boy: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Radio: The Bush/Clinton presidential race is likely. Man: Maybe time travel is possible.
I want my $0.23 a gallon back, but the tax is now twice that here in my state-total fed and state taxes, but in places like Norway, or New Zealand ($8 a gallon), CONSERVATION is the purpose of higher prices, and it works. Which, Norway is harvesting both North Sea oil, AND heavily investing, and profiting, from WIND energy. New Zealand has to import as it’s reserves don’t amount to much.
Fuel efficient vehicles are available in Europe, but while we’re finally starting to get smart, what we can buy here doesn’t nearly match up, and it’s the oil lobbies, not engineers making the calls.
