The lost generation
Man 1: I have a bachelor's degree in history. I'm a pizza relocation specialist.
Woman: I have a bachelor's degree in business. I'm a barista.
Man 2: I have a bachelor's degree in philosophy, mixologist.
You can get people just as talented in India who ask for less. Just ask Jack Welch. He brags about his discovery in his autobiography. My friend who works at F.Y.E. tells me how people with bachelor’s degrees are applying for jobs.
And now some Indian companies are outsourcing back to the US…as salaries rise in India, the wage differential is not as high. In addition, the degree is not really the same. A lot of companies have found that out, to their sorrow.
hey, i voted for Root and Bar, and i’m in 47th week—-and my 1152 dollar a month navy retired pay disqualifies my for unemployment benefits here. i make 52 bucks too much. hell, minimum wage is higher than that! where do i get that phd so i can make the 3-6 hundred a day as a bartender???
And the GOP would have done a better job of creating jobs… how, exactly? Oh, that’s right. Trickle-down economics, less regulation, abandoning the unemployed and the poor, and hands off Wall Street. That has such a good track record.
But a whole lot of Indian scientists and engineers keep coming here to work for GE. Living in the uS, some tell me, beats living in India. Maybe the probelm is the degree choice?
