And it would still be true. The means did not justify either end. Saddam’s power was null at that point, Iran had a progressive government, the Taliban had been removed. All we needed to do was capture or kill Osama Bin Laden, and leave it at that. Invading Iraq was the absolute worst decision W could have made at that point, and “the Decider” made it.

John McCain, while campaigning for president, made the mistake of giving the endgame away. When he was talking about finding alternative energy sources, which he was for at the time, he noted that one of the values was that we wouldn’t have to send our young men and women to fight in the middle east. This was an inadvertant admission of the true role of both Gulf War I and Shock and Awe.
And, evidently in your mind, proof that John McCain is a liberal. Or, that your statement is not fully correct.
Yes, I know that all the soldiers who died in Iraq were a useless sacrifice, and that there were NEVER any weapons of mass destruction, and Dubya lied to us repeatedly, but, gee, he sure must have had a big dick to do all that.
As a supposedly liberal on this site, (which I am not) I would be more than happy to see the US profit from the disaster that was Iraq in ANY way possible. But evidently that has not been the case, and probably never will be. Even Iran has obtained far more good will in Iraq by our actions than we did, how is that for irony!!!
I believe that was Bush’s plan all along to let china have Iraqi oil. that way the Chinese could buy more American Debt and allow Bush to cut taxes to the rich and still have money coming in. It is true that the money coming in was total debt but who cares Bush is gone and we have to put up with Obama following Reagan – Bush policies of an imperial president.
Have read several articles on this, and numerous over the years about how China is using a much more intelligent strategy than the U.S. in Sudan and other parts of Africa as well. The go in, get to know the people, treat them as humans, and don’t bomb them into submission. It’s amazing that China and Viet Nam are both becoming better capitalists than the U.S..
BTW, Conoco’s highest producing single well in history was in Vietnamese waters a few years ago.
Yes, we WERE in Viet Nam to trade blood for oil, and nickel, rare earth minerals, and natural latex and other forest products. It was obvious in ’66-67 when I was there watching U.S. and European companies going for the resources.

It was by no means a single “article” about them saying the Iraqis would pay for our war with their oil.
Silly me, thought that was what we was fightin’ for. Killing for global oil companies heavily subsidized by the American taxpayer—a lose, lose, lose, lose . . .
