I find myself not in the Medicare for All camp. I think we need a 5 point universal insurance for all. The five points are: free doctor’s visit, free doctor’s tests, free yearly physical, free prescription drugs, and free outpatient surgery and follow up. All else is going to require a supplement provided by private insurance. For those that can’t afford the supplements, they may still have to land themselves in the emergency room. But, if they’re availing themselves of doctor’s visits and testing, there should be far fewer emergencies to deal with. This is a preventative medicine plan which would be ideal for the younger members of our nation, the one least likely to get insurance unless it’s provided by their employment, with supplements added for the older members.
