Tom Steyer’s only qualification is being a billionaire based on his experience as a hedge fund manager who got rich from carbon-spewing Australian coal mines, investments in for-profit private prisons and helping other billionaires funnel money into tax shelters — dubious “achievements” that will not play well in today’s Democratic Party.
Since leaving his hedge fund company, Steyer has tried to atone for moral turpitude of his financial sins by throwing big wads of that money towards truly admirable causes.
But if you have ZERO experience in public policy (and no, government [non-profit; collaborative] can NOT be “run like a business” [for profit; top down], and the only experience you do have is in economic and environmental predation, you can’t build a campaign on a foundation of having to apologize for everything you ever did that accounts for such “experience” as you do have.
