Well written, thought out and respectful post. It reflects well on you..To clarify the libertarian position, what we libertarians acknowledge and accept (for better or worse) is the imperfection of the human condition. We acknowledge that power corrupts and are reluctant to hand large quantities to the federal government that literally has our lives in it’s hands..We believe that millions of individuals are better equipped for helping the disadvantaged than a monolithic entity who has to support itself, acquire the means of confiscation of other people’s wealth and methodology of redistribution..Check out this column from economist Dr.Thomas Sowell for some food for thought on the war on poverty..Have a great rest of day!
