Election officials in 3 battleground states are making efforts to keep former president Donald Trump off of the 2024 presidential ballot, referencing the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment as reasoning for the move.

The argument for disqualifying Trump from appearing on election ballots in 2024 comes from Section 3 of the amendment, which says that an elected official cannot assume public office if they “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States or had “given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” unless they official in question is granted amnesty by a two-thirds vote of Congress. Contingents in several U.S. states feel that the former president’s actions during the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riot fit the bill.

GOP’s ‘red meat Hunter Biden drama’ is ‘falling flat’ even with primary voters

Republicans have been hoping that Hunter Biden’s shady overseas business dealings would give them a willing issue to take to voters, but Politico reports that the issue has “fallen flat” even among much of the GOP primary electorate. The report notes that Hunter Biden was barely even a topic of discussion at the most recent 2024 Republican primary debate, and that this reflects a limited interest among voters despite the fact that Fox News has spent months hyping up every new twist and turn in what Politico describes as “red meat Hunter Biden drama.”

‘Get your leaders to endorse me’: Trump scrambles to pick up voters in rant about Biden

As Labor Day weekend concluded, Donald Trump made an appeal to autoworkers to push their union leadership to endorse his third presidential run despite the fact that he has been indicted in four separate jurisdictions. After spending the greater part of the holiday weekend posting memes and poll results on his embattled Truth Social platform, the former president literally begged for help from the autoworkers union that endorsed President Joe Biden in 2020 late Monday night.

Donald Trump definitely has some form of dementia. And look, I’m not making fun of this. I’ve lost several of my own family members to various forms of dementia, don’t wish it on anyone. My beef is instead with the fact that he and his MAGA cult have been, for years now, accusing Joe Biden of having severe dementia — an accusation which serves as their number one reason for why President Biden shouldn’t be allowed to run for a second term.

The conservative right communicates that message in a variety of ways. Donald himself uses email scams, alt-right social media, and his rallies to amplify the sentiment. He enjoys giving embellished versions of Biden’s foibles or calling him names like “sleepy Joe” or “slow Joe.” In 2020 during a reelection bid speech at his Bedminster golf club, Trump even gathered three hundred police officers to poll them on whether he should stick with using “sleepy Joe” or change the nickname to “slow Joe.”

    This is simply not normal.

Until more recently Trump kept it sort of vague, merely hinting at something like cognitive decline. But now he’s specifically naming dementia, as he did following President Biden’s recent democracy speech in Pennsylvania. Later that night on Truth Social, Trump retorted:

“He must be insane, or suffering from late stage dementia!”

And with that, the rest of the peanut gallery falls in line including family, friends, and Fox News. Don Jr. favors sharing deceptively doctored videos of Biden speeches which immediately go viral on alt-right social media (of course, before any fact-checks are done).

Several mental health professionals have shared an impression that Donald Trump is a narcissistic personality disorder. My impression is that he is a mixed personality disorder, with significant features of psychopathy. A psychopath has virtually no conscience, does not empathize with other people’s pain, doesn’t care who he hurts.

More importantly, as someone with a decade of experience in geriatric medicine, Donald Trump definitely shows signs of early dementia. For example, some of the time that he denies that he said something, when it has been recorded for everyone to hear and see; he simply forgot what he said.

The dementia represent different patterns of degeneration and microvascular disease, all of which yield different symptoms. The form of dementia that Trump appears to have includes some frontal lobe pathophysiology. The major symptom is poor judgment; Impulsivity is also often a part of it. The worse part of the syndrome is unrealistic self-appraisal.

I am a smart person… I like to think… and I also know what dementia is. But I also know some other things, like what treason is. And what a grifter is and does. Not to mention that I know how well Biden’s been actually doing in the face of extreme immoral (they swore an oath to put the health nation first) behavior by the GQP. President Biden was accused of being disrespectful after he quickly exited the East Room of the White House before the conclusion of a Medal of Honor ceremony honoring a Vietnam War veteran on Tuesday. Biden, 80, abruptly left the ceremony after fastening the nation’s highest military decoration around the neck of retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor, 81, before the closing benediction was read by Chaplain Brig. Gen. William Green Jr.Military veterans slammed Biden afterward, arguing that the commander in chief showed a startling lack of respect. “Pardon my French…But what a f—ing idiot. The continuous lack of respect Biden has for anyone is appalling. Hawaii, Service members, active shooter victims, the list goes on,” former Navy SEAL and podcast host Shawn Ryan tweeted after Biden’s hasty exit.“At least he didn’t check his watch this time,” Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), an Army veteran, snarked on X, formerly known as Twitter.
