Of the 120 episodes of the Muppets that were made, Disney was unable to secure the rights to the episode hosted by Brooke Shields (as well as several songs on other episodes) and removed an episode hosted by Chris Langham. Of remaining 118, Disney has placed a warning on 18, which includes the following :
“Rather than removing this content, we see an opportunity to spark conversation and open dialogue on history that affects us all. We also want to acknowledge that some communities have been erased or forgotten altogether, and we’re committed to giving voice to their stories as well.”
Seems like Disney is doing a pretty good job with content curation and making a good faith effort to make their holdings available to the public.
Think back to your favorite childhood swimming hole, if you went back there with your own kids, would you prefer to see a sign saying “swim at your own risk” or a fence and sign saying “no entry”?
