When I was growing up, one of our lawn decorations was a large Santa. One year, when I was a teen, my father put it into his head to put Santa on the roof. Suddenly, my younger brother and I saw my father fall past the window, right onto the cement walk! We helped him in; he seemed OK (although he DID break his wrist). My mother noticed some red on the collar of his jacket and started to freak out: she thought there was a head injury. I looked closer at the collar and started to laugh. Soon, my brother joined me, then my father picked up on the joke. My mother was just about ready to kill all 3 of us: “WHAT’S SO FUNNY?”
My father asked her, “Before I went up there, what did you do?”
She answered, “I touched up Santa’s suit.”
Dad: “What did you use?”
That’s when she picked up on the joke: Dad had lipstick on his collar! (Hey, find humor where you can.)
