Fun for whom?

She just needs to talk more Jason’s lanuage.

What I don’t get about these (severely cliché) storylines, that nearly every comic and sitcom and cartoon uses, is why the girls are crushing on the guys. At that age I remember girls were just as “eww” about being around boys as boys were around girls. Chutney over on Curtis even comes across as a creepy stalker, not just a “crush”.

Xane_T - I disagree. Girls mature earlier than boys, and tend to be more romantic. Maybe it was just you that they “ewwed” about.

Girls typically mature (physically) slightly faster than boys. So there usually is an awkward period where girls are starting to get interested in boys, but boys still think they’re gross.

An alternative interpretation could be that Elieen doesn’t actually like Jason- she just likes messing with him.

Yeah! That’s why I said two days ago “Okay, Jason, hold hands with her while you tour the science museum and explain the exhibits to her.”

Maybe it was my IQ, maybe it was because I was an only child, maybe it was because like Jason I wore glasses, maybe it was because I NEVER could run more than about fifty feet without being completely winded so I was NOT the least bit interested in ‘sports’, maybe it was because my Dad was a brilliant engineer so I was ENCOURAGED NOT to be destructive; but I never liked playing with most boys at that age BECAUSE almost all of them WERE so destructive that I had to protect my own toys from them to keep them from being smashed up.

So I actually PREFERRED being around most girls to being around most boys. ESPECIALLY if I could find one like Eileen who was interested in science and technology, instead of playing with dolls!! ( Or should I say could have found! )

So I saw this “girls were just as “eww” about being around boys” very much, too. In fact, in about the fourth grade, I gave a girl a valentine card on Valentine’s Day ( why shouldn’t I, Dad gave one to Mom, too! ) and this girl I gave it to tore it up and stamped on it on the floor. ( So it goes )

The problem for me was that when I got a little older, I didn’t like rock-and-roll music (?? is it really! Dixieland jazz and 1920’s jazz for me please!) either so that isolated me even further from even the girls my age ( who by that time were such sheep to the ‘group think’ that they couldn’t do anything the least bit different than what their ‘herd instinct’ dictated).

I remember having my first “crush” in 2nd grade. I blame playing with my neighbor’s Barbie dolls for my corruption. I do remember that the other girls tended to get crushes on boys they probably would never meet in real life, little alone have a chance of a relationship with that boy. (When I was in 7th grade, Donny Osmond was the favorite crush of my female classmates.) I think that’s because the average girl wanted the exceptionally good-looking and polished guy, instead of one who is actually in her “league”.
