Al Secord? The hockey player? Richard Secord, the AF General? Laura Secord, from the War of 1812? Strip looks cool, I like the high adventure idea, but you lost me already.

For the unknowing, he is refering to the character Cliff Secord in the Disney movie, “The Rocketeer”.

Cliff finds a jet pack inented by Howard Hughes and uses it to save his girl and foil a Nazi plot to steal the jet pack.

Look it up on line. It’ll give you the background to follow this strip.

That looks like one of the Flying Tigers planes. I really am looking foward to this strip. Pulp and comic strips are the perfect pair. Good luck guys!

Welcome Gentleman,The art looks good and the plot looks just nutty enough to do well here. If the strip turns turtle and sinks like a rock I have dibs on the mustang.

@Carl and Norman:That’s a P-40E Warhawk. The AVG flew the P-40 B/C. The 14th Air Force (Chennault’s command) did get the P-40 E after the US entered the war. Eventually they got the P-51 B/C Mustang and early versions of the P-38 Lightning, as well as some bombers.

Hope the strip succeeds. I still miss “Terry and the Pirates.”

Most interesting…In the third panel, hanging in the background, is what appears to be the lead shielding melted by the interocitor controlled by Exeter. (This Island Earth)This comic looks to have possibilities, so, I’m in!

good eye there, Night-Gaunt49! That metal plate with the molten hole in the middle is reminiscent of … I was just discussing the “missing wing” … it’s on the original art, but somehow didn’t end up here,… hmmm … let me see if I can fix that!

It looks like the starboard wing is there – follow the darker gray shape (same color as the fuselage on the same side) just above the wing’s shadow to the first crate. The dihedral might be a bit off, though.

Sam Copoper is a combo – Sam J. Jones (whom played Flash Gordon in the 80’s film based on Alex Raymonds work, and Cooper – as in Merian C. Cooper – the man that brought us KING KONG in 1933 … as for Colin … from the original TARZAN novel. Your questions shows you’ve put some thought into it – THANK YOU – as I have stated … this strip wears it’s influences on it’s sleeve!

    James,

Here I am as promised … in another guise wedded to your new strip. Nice work. Great illustration of the P-51. And I get The Rocketeer reference in that last panel… of course, this guy looks like a cross between the “bad guy” in Up and Timothy Dalton’s character in The Rocketeer. Hmmm…

Folkls, EDGE OF ADVENTURE is a WEEKLY strip…just so you know. It IS an ongoing series, just once a week. The other strip I do, Mark Trail keeps me very busy.

Would be nice if GoComics told us whether this is daily, twice-a-week, weekly, or whatever…

Is this from the same James Allen who took over “Mark Trail”? If so, expect lots of boat explosions!

James Allen posted a comment yesterday (on the Comics Curmudgeon web site) that this was going to be a weekly or an occasionally twice weekly strip. Since he has other work that pays the bills, I suspect that this will be updated as he can get to it.

okay everyone, I have had trouble getting my PRO account set up so that I could comment and reply to questions and comments but I think everything is okay now, so, here we go …… EDGE OF ADVENTURE IS A WEEKLY STRIP, a new edition will be up nexrt Monday, this is because EDGE is just one of the strips I do, the other is Mark Trail (dailies and Sundays) which keeps me quite busy. EDGE is my labor of love… so come along with me to those thrilling days of yesteryear …

This looks fun! I’m adding to my fave list, James. Also, great P-40! Look forward to seeing some villains with hooks on one hand, and maybe a monocle. Oh! And have them pilot a ME-109 or FW-190.

Folks, I have set up a Patreon page to help support the strip… We already have over 600 subscribers (and Brice could use new equipment) give it a week or so – you’ll get the idea of what’s going on here, and if you enjoy EDGE, consider donating a measly buck per installment. @beenthere240There will be no sitting on the tarmac as of the next episode. Hang in there, as much as we would love to crank out more than a strip a week, there just isn’t a way right now…
