What made her think that they would discriminate against the men? Don’t they keep their women with the pigs?

I have always worked in male dominated fields. Decades ago, as the first female hired in parts and service, the guys said " Great, someone to make the morning coffee," Now, I don’t drink coffee so I played dumb. The first morning I used one teaspoon for a 12-cup pot, and the whining commenced. The next day I filled the filter as full as possible. Needless to say, they got the message and I never had to say a word, just smiled politely at them.

I had a female friend in high school who went to college and became a geologist. Her first day on the job, she told all the guys that just because she was female, she wasn’t going to be the coffee-maker. She was glad to take her turn, but it was going to be done fairly. I also worked in a doctor’s office where one of the doctors had to have his tea made just so. If the person that day didn’t do it just right, she was in trouble. Fortunately, I only worked there occasionally, so I was left off the tea roster, much to my relief! I thought it was ridiculous, and probably would have told him to make his own stupid tea, and lost my job!

I doubt any company, Elbonian or not, could advertise for a “coffee wench” today….
